Notice of Potential Ineligibility for License

Notice to Applicants/Students Pursuing Programs Resulting in an Occupational License

In accordance with Chapter 53, Subchapter E, section , if you apply to or are enrolled in a program, or change your program, to one that prepares individuals for issuance of an initial occupational license, please be advised that:

  1. An individual who has been convicted of an offense may be ineligible for issuance of an occupational license upon completion of the program;

  2. Each licensing authority that may issue an occupational license to an individual who completes an educational program must establish guidelines which state the reasons a particular crime is considered to relate to a particular license and any other criterion that affects the decisions of the licensing authority.

  3. Local or county licensing authorities may issue additional guidelines that may result in ineligibility for issuance of an occupational license of an individual convicted of an offense

  4. A person may request a licensing authority to issue a criminal history evaluation letter regarding the person’s eligibility for a license issued by that authority if they are enrolled or planning to enroll in such program and has reason to believe they may be ineligible for a license upon completion of the program.
