Procedure

Texas Common Course Numbering System

暗网吃瓜 College shall include the applicable course numbers from the Texas Common Course Numbering System (TCCNS) in its printed and electronic catalogs, course listings, and any other appropriate informational resources, and in the application of the provisions of Administrative Code, Title 19, Park 1, Chapter 4, Subchapter B (Transfer of Credit, Core Curriculum, and Field of Study Curricula).

  1. The TCCNS prefix and number must be displayed immediately adjacent to the institutional course prefix and number at the beginning of each course description; and

  2. The printed and electronic catalogs shall include a chart, table, or matrix, alphabetized by common course prefix, listing all common courses taught at the college by both the common and local course number.

Curriculum Review and Evaluation

暗网吃瓜 College鈥檚 curriculum review process recognizes the roles of the faculty, the administration, and the governing board. Requests for curriculum changes, including revisions, additions, and deletions, may originate at any point within the instructional program structure.

Process

All curriculum change requests must first be approved by the Department Chair or Program Director, Executive Dean or Executive Director, and Vice President of Academic Affairs prior to submission to the Academic Council. The Department Chair, Program Director, Executive Dean, or Executive Director must then present the recommendations to the Academic Council for consideration.

Upon recommendation by the Academic Council, the Vice President of Academic Affairs will present the curriculum change request to the Leadership Team. Following the recommendation by the Leadership Team, the curriculum change request will be presented to the Board of Trustees for final approval. In accordance with state statute, the 暗网吃瓜 College Board of Trustees shall review and approve or deny all curriculum change requests.

Any new programs requiring more than 25% new content must have SACSCOC approval prior to implementation. All program closures must have prior SACSCOC approval (see Substantive Change Procedure BH.1)

Academic Council

The Academic Council serves as the initial curriculum review committee for the college. The purpose of the Academic Council is to address educational and workforce preparation matters and make recommendations to the Leadership Team. In so doing, the Council, including faculty members, shall share ideas and concerns, identify opportunities, and recommend solutions. Recommendations made by the Academic Council must be approved by the Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees.

The Academic Council shall be chaired by the Vice President of Academic Affairs and membership shall include the Vice President of Student Success, as well as representation from the registrar鈥檚 office, financial aid, student advising, and faculty. Faculty shall be nominated by the Vice President of Academic Affairs and approved by the District President to serve on the Academic Council.

Changes to Academic Transfer Courses and Degrees

Changes to academic transfer courses and to Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Arts in Teaching, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs must be reported to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

Workforce Education Courses, Degrees and Certificates

Workforce, Career, and Technical Education departments will seek input from the appropriate Program Advisory Committee before proposing curriculum changes.  Following final approval from the 暗网吃瓜 College Board of Trustees, proposed changes must be submitted to, and approved by, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board prior to implementation. All changes to certificates must also receive approval from the Department of Education prior to implementation, so that financial aid may be awarded.
